Eggnog has always been one of my favorite treats this time of the year. However once I changed my diet and decreased my intake of dairy I slowly phased it out of my life . That is until I stumbled upon the non-dairy versions of this seasonal guilty pleasure. Although not as awesome as the original full fat and dairy version Silk‘ makes a comparable vegan blend called Silk Nog. I can now enjoy my Nog’ without the calories, saturated fat, or cholesterol. Even better Silk Nog is certified non-GMO and free of dairy, lactose, gluten, casein, egg and MSG.
I’ve been whipping up this tasty breakfast smoothie using Silk Nog. I love it so much that I had to share the recipe. The blend of the nog, frozen banana, and pure stevia creates a rich decadent smoothie that rivals the traditional eggnog I enjoyed many moons ago. All pleasure and no guilt. O.k maybe a little guilt 🙂
Silk Nog Vegan Smoothie
1/3 cup dairy free Silk Nog
1/4 cup Silk unsweetened almond milk or soy milk
5 drops pure stevia extract
3 tablespoons gluten free rolled oats
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
1/2 janigold apple, chopped
1 medium banana, frozen and chopped into 6 pieces
- Add all ingredients into a blender in the order listed and process until smooth
- Transfer to a serving glass with ice. Serve immediately.
