I am thrilled to host the second session of my one of a kind summer day camp for students aged 8-15 years old. The camp will focus on educating the whole person through mini workshops, demonstrations, and exercises that engage the mind and the body. These will include sessions in yoga, mindful meditation, essential oils, zumba, yoga, and gluten free cooking and baking.

Our July sessions were an amazing success and we are looking forward to an even better experience for this second block of sessions starting Thursday August 25. The August sessions  will be co-led by an amazing panel of Rochester women in Wellness:

 Jessica Kouzan, Nutrition Educator| Cornell Cooperative

 

Jessica is a Rochester native and has been with Cornell Cooperative as a full-time employee for about a year and a half. She started as an intern in 2014 right after graduating from SUNY Potsdam with a Community Health Major. She enjoys connecting with the community and teaching others how to be well through nutrition.  

 Jamie Lam, Eat Smart New York Nutrition Educator | Foodlink NY

 

Jamie Lam is an Eat Smart New York community nutrition educator based at Foodlink in Rochester, NY. She is a first generation Vietnamese-American with a B.S in Nutrition Science from the University of California, Davis.

 

 Shannon Richmond, Associate Director M.K Ghandi Institute | Rochester, NY

Shannon holds a B.A. in Sociology, Criminal Justice Studies, and Violence Studies from Alfred University. Studying the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Durban, South Africa sparked her interest in Restorative Justice and led her to the Gandhi Institute. Since 2007, Shannon has facilitated Alternatives to Violence Project workshops in prisons and the community. She is also trained in Nonviolent Communication, Kingian Nonviolence, Peace Circles, Community Conferencing, Restorative Circles, and the Work That Reconnects. In the in-between moments, she enjoys paradoxes and dancing in the kitchen.

The Annual 19th Amendment Celebration Weekend powered by The Susan B. Anthony Neighborhood Association

In collaboration with Dawn Noto and The Susan B. Anthony Neighborhood Association 540WMain will be hosting this year’s 96th Annual 19th Amendment Celebration Weekend.

I am thrilled to join Dawn (President) in hosting this annual event that serves as a way to commemorate and celebrate Susan B. Anthony, her legacy, and the historical district where she lived. Beginning Friday August 19 through Sunday August 21, 2016 there will be a series of celebratory receptions, lunches, brunches, art shows, walking tours and a PARTY FINALE to bring Rochester and the Susan B. Anthony community closer together .

540WMain will serve as host site for the majority of these events but there will also be festivities taking place at The Susan B. Anthony House and Museum.

This event has truly been a labor of love and will be an awesome way to cap off a sure to be A+mazing summer.
